4 Unique Funeral And Burial Customs Around The World
Every culture follows certain customs while they are honoring a loved one who has passed away. People pay their condolences and respects in different ways, and many different burial customs are followed around the world. Here we take a look at some of them:

Mongolia

Buddhist beliefs have a powerful influence on memorial and funeral customs in Mongolia. Sky Burials are the norm here. In this type of funeral service, the body is placed unprotected on a very high platform, allowing nature and wildlife to take their course. Ground burials are also conducted in which black and red colors are used on the casket, and the grave is surrounded with clean sand, milk, and rice.

Iran

The customs followed in Iran are based on the Islamic faith and are quite elaborate. The burial is always conducted within 24 hours of the person's death. The body is washed nine times and wrapped in a simple white shroud. It is placed facing the holy place- Mecca, and those who present at the funeral recite various prayers from the Quran.

South Africa

When a family member passes, the bed is removed from the room, and people come to mourn the loss. The windows of the home are smeared with ashes. After the funeral, the dirt and dust is carefully washed from the grave, and people also cleanse themselves thoroughly. Some people have an “after tears party". It's a celebration where family and friends come together to remember and talk about the deceased.

As you can see, there are many different ways in which funerals and burials are conducted in different parts of the world. Many families today are moving away from tradition and custom and finding unique ways to celebrate the life of their loved one.
